An Analysis Of Students' Listening Skill Through English Song In English Department Fkip Unes Padang

The objective of the research was to find out how students’ listening skills are through English songs, especially at Engilsh Department FKIP UNES Padang of the Second Semester Year 2022-2023. Song is a piece of music with words that is sung. Song is also a great language package that bundles culture, vocabulary, listening, grammar and a host of other language skills in just a few rhymes. The research method was the descriptive method. The population of the research were 17 students of the English Department second-semester FKIP UNES Padang. The sampling technique used a total random sample, and because of that, all second-semester students were taken as research samples. The research instrument was the listening test. Scores of students' listening skills will be determined through tests. This data collection technique is carried out by giving each student the opportunity to listen to a song and answer it, while the data analysis technique is carried out using a listening indicator. Data analysis also showed that on average, 3 out of 17 students were very good (17,64%), 5 out of 17 students were good (29,41%), 4 out of 17 students had enough (23,52%), 2 out of 17 students had less (11,76%), and 3 out of 17 students had very little (17,64%). Based on the explanation above, the researcher can conclude that the ability of students in the second semester of the English Department of FKIP UNES in listening to English using English songs is on average good.
